The Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo took place for the first time in 2008. In 2009 the dates are 13th – 16th May, and the Tattoo will once again be held in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. This Military Tattoo incorporates both traditional and modern military acts from Britain and around the world. The Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo is a not-for-profit event, with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.
This year the Birmingham Tattoo celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is well recognised as one of the leading events of its type in Europe, attracting world famous military bands and other performers to The NIA in Birmingham each year.
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo forms the centrepiece of the annual Edinburgh Festival held in August each year. The castle esplanade provides the arena with the fortress itself providing a stunning backdrop. Edinburgh is also home to the Army School of Bagpipes and the tattoo provides a unique opportunity for the pipers to display their skills.
The first Luxembourg International Military Tattoo was staged in 2007, following its success a second tattoo was staged in 2008 and a third is planned for 12th and 13th May 2010. The tattoo is staged at the National Culture and Sports Center, d'Coque, located in the heart of Luxembourg City's financial and business District, Kirchberg.
The Voorthuizen Military Tattoo is part of the Dutch National Celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The Tattoo will be staged in early May 2010.
The Basel Tattoo
The Netherlands Military Tattoo is held in the Music and Sport-arena 'Ahoy’ Rotterdam. The history of the event runs back to the Delft Tattoo first staged in 1954 following Dutch Participation in the Early Edinburgh Tattoos. The Tattoo has also been staged in both Breda and 'S-Hertogenbosch.
The first Berlin Military Music Festival was staged in November 1995. Now in its fifteenth year the festival has developed into one of the leading international military music events in Europe.
The Fulda Military Tattoo is staged biannually at the ESPERANTO-Halle, Fulda, Germany.
The Norwegian Military Tattoo is a biennial event staged at the Spektrum in Oslo. The first tattoo was staged in 1994 and attracts acts from across Norway and overseas.
The Danish Military Tattoo was first held in 2004 at the Herning Exhibition Centre. The tattoo is held in October each year.
The Southjutland Internationale Military Tattoo is a small outdoor tattoo in the south of Denmark.
The Hamina Tattoo was first staged in 1990, this biennial event is held in August in the heart of Hamina, Finland.
The Ystad International Military Tattoo is a biennial tattoo staged in Ystad, Sweeden. It was first staged in 1999.
The first Nova Scotia Tattoo has performed in 1979 in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The tattoo was renamed Nova Scotia International Tattoo in 1988 in recognition of the number of visiting performers that have taken part in the show. This annual event was awarded the Royal designation in 2006 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Virginia International Tattoo is held at the Scope Arena, Norfolk VA. The tattoo forms part of the annual Virginia Arts Festival. The tattoo is the largest event of its kind in the United States with a cast of 850.
The Canadian International Military Tattoo is held in Hamilton each June. The first tattoo was staged in 1993.
Quebec City Military Tattoo - Canada
The Heartland International Tattoo Music & Dance Festival is one of the premiere indoor musical and pageantry events in the Midwestern United States. Featuring an international cast of military and civilian performers including pipe bands, brass bands, drum and bugle corps, international dance ensembles and precision musical and pageantry related acts is the foundation for a larger series of events that will kick off the spring tourism and festival season in the greater Chicago area. It takes place at the state of the art Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates/Chicago, Illinois.
The Australian Federation Tattoo was first performed in 1999 as the key feature of the famous Bendigo Easter Fair Festival, in Bendigo in the state of Victoria Australia.
